As part of our “Streams of Investigation” program the Digital Workplace Forum examines a specific theme each quarter. In Q1 2012 we’ve produced a report called the “Digital Workplace business case: What is the financial value of investment in digital working?” In this paper we examine the core benefits that can positively impact an organization’s bottom line, and should constitute any business case for investing in the Digital Workplace.
This is the third in a series of six blog posts in which we’re looking at each benefit in more detail. This time we’re investigating the dramatic reductions in employee absenteeism which can be achieved through agile and flexible working programs.
Employee absenteeism is an enormous cost for businesses. A 2011 PwC survey estimated that absenteeism was costing UK businesses £32bn per year alone, whilst a survey by Gallop estimated that US businesses lost more than $153bn in lost productivity each year through absenteeism caused by the poor health of their workforce.
